This is a short 2-minute presentation to explain once more about what we do

What we do
PointLoyalty company provides SaaS service for processing customer transactions and calculating bonus points for any type of business. Using our system you can assign rewards to your active clients, calculate discounts and keep the record of all client transactions and earned bonus points. In a traditional offline business the type of marketing we offer is called “loyalty programs”.

How it works
1. Describe your business in the system using web-based graphic interface.
Example: assume you are in retail business. Then customer transactions would be “buy” with attributes like “date of purchase”, “product”, “product category”, etc
2. Based on business description create loyalty offers:
Example: customers who purchased something from “clothes” category during “November 2010” and who has previously bought goods worth more then “500” USD will get 100 bonus points (or 5% discount – depends on the type of your loyalty programs).
3. Submit real customer transactions into the system and get results – which customers earned bonus points.

How to submit data for processing
- in online mode – using our API (Web Services, RESTful API).
- send files with data (automatic download from FTP servers)
- directly enter the data on application forms

Privacy protection and confidentiality
- you can pass identifiers of your customers in encrypted
- you can pass a part of transaction information which is required
- you can immediately delete the data after processing
- you can order local installation in your own network

What types of businesses are suitable for the system?
The system is designed to support any kind of businesses – you can calculate bonus points and discounts for purchases if you own an internet shop; or ‘karma’ level and user ratings for clicks and comments – if you own a social network. Main criteria: you work with clients and want to reward them for certain activity.

Informing customers on earned bonus points
You can use MemberConsole – web-based user interface to let your customers view their bonus points. MemberConsole also displays all customer activity, active offers and the history of customer bonus points. You can also develop your own console using our API. Customer account gets automatically created based on incoming data on new clients. For internet shops this task is solved automatically; for offline business – one need to organize the process of filling questionnaires to take part in loyalty program.
Note – we can not automate the process of bonus point’s redemption since it depends heavily on your business but we are ready to help you in organizing this technically.

Competition
There are no direct competitors. One can order development of such system to big SI company. There are also additional software for POS, shopping carts, etc (trivial list of discounts, simple loyalty offers)

Our advantages
- Easy to learn, short time to start
- Use free of charge
- Adopts to any type of business
- Support online processing
- Scalability (support cluster computations)

Researching PointLoyalty cooperation options with existing financial applications we discovered that not that many companies are really ready for online integration despite the claims of having open architecture, easy integration, plugins support, etc. Some companies provide a list of add-ons implemented by third-party developers which in many cases lack production quality. The term “open architecture” is also understood differently from vendor to vendor.
But there are some nice exceptions. Most often they are relatively young firms who need to design their products at the highest level to get advantage over existing competitors. These young companies do not need to support compatibility with earlier versions and eager to use new technologies. We believe these young players will define the future of technologies open for integration on SaaS market, if large competitors will not buy them out.

Everyone who uses our API http://www.pointloyalty.com/web20_details.html needs to pay attention that fields declared “optional” are very important at times.

Everyone who uses our API http://www.pointloyalty.com/web20_details.html needs to pay attention that fields declared “optional” are very important at times.

We tried to simplify our API to make it easier to learn the system, but we recommend to study the system documentation especially before using it in production.

Example:
Login object has following fields:
- Name – Client name in PointLoyalty Manager.
- Password – Password.
- Locale – Client language string. ‘EN’ by default.
- TimeZoneId – Timezone. String representation as in Java programming language.

Fields «Locale» and «TimeZoneId» are optional and all tests will work without passing them into the system.
But please consider the following:
- If you not an English speaking user and you do not pass «Locale» parameter you will get all
messages from our services in English; date and time fields will be processed according to US
date/time formats, etc.
- If you are not in US/California (where our servers are) – all empty date/time fields by default will
have current US/California time and not time of your time zone as you could expect.

Errors of this kind are easy to avoid by spending a couple of minutes on reading API documentation.

We already mentioned in the post (http://www.pointloyalty.com/blog/2009/02/24/loyalty-on-demand/) dedicated to ‘software-as-a-service’ why this approach is not yet very popular. Besides all issues described we can list some additional obstacles: the fear to disclose company’s sensitive data and business processes automation reluctance as it is.
Both obstacles will disappear with time.
Let’s see an example from ERP software sector. Many companies think about full business process automation but complain about high costs of ERP solutions. Nowadays there are several well-established open source ERP projects which can dramatically reduce the costs associated with deploying company automation software. But there are a very small number of open source ERP installations worldwide. The statistics show that all on-demand ERP vendors take only few percents of the global market.
We can see that largest companies choose very expensive solutions from SAP, Microsoft and Oracle. Other companies do not want to solve the issue despite they need to.
Our solution is not as big as ERP. We only provide a solution for loyalty programs management and bonus point’s calculations support.
And you can choose – to install our software in your network or use it from our website on terms Software-as-a-Service .
