Integration with financial applications

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Researching PointLoyalty cooperation options with existing financial applications we discovered that not that many companies are really ready for online integration despite the claims of having open architecture, easy integration, plugins support, etc. Some companies provide a list of add-ons implemented by third-party developers which in many cases lack production quality. The term “open architecture” is also understood differently from vendor to vendor.
But there are some nice exceptions. Most often they are relatively young firms who need to design their products at the highest level to get advantage over existing competitors. These young companies do not need to support compatibility with earlier versions and eager to use new technologies. We believe these young players will define the future of technologies open for integration on SaaS market, if large competitors will not buy them out.

Processing large volumes of transactions

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

If you need to process a lot of transactions every day or use delayed bonus computations (for example you periodically transfer transactions data in files) you may start worrying about performance of transactions processing. Since we already met such issues developing custom loyalty systems we tried to take it into account when designing PointLoyalty Manager.

While processing large volume data the actual calculations can be distributed on a cluster of servers. So, to increase system performance you can add new servers with our software to your local network. This approach is simple and convenient. You can increase the system performance when you need it and don’t need to buy expensive dedicated servers. Purchasing PointLoyalty Manager local server license you can be sure that system is scalable.

Discounts or Bonus Points?

Monday, June 8th, 2009

In books on marketing it is possible to find a lot of materials why bonus points are better then discounts. There are also many comments from customer loyalty experts on according internet web sites. But our clients ask us quite often – why do you offer only bonus points system, we want to get a flexible enough discounts.
For PointLoyalty Manager it is absolutely not relevant how you use calculated bonus points. You can name them “calculated discounts” and redeem them as you want. If you are working with PointLoyalty Manager in online mode you can use bonus points to reduce total amount of each customer’s receipt.
Everything depends on rules you define in the system.

Free edition limitations

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Free edition of PointLoyalty Manager system has some limitations (number of active offers, amount of purchase history rules, size of files for processing etc). We have tried to set limitations in such a way that they allow majority of users to work painlessly with the product.
If you decided to use commercial version (advanced support, extra features, license for local installation) – we understand that before production usage there is a need to test your system with full-featured product. In this case we can lift all restrictions of free edition for requested time period. Send a request to our support service and we most probably disable system limitations. A request does not put any obligations on your side to purchase our support or a license – we just trying to make your work with our system comfortable.

Installing PointLoyalty Manager on your own server

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Let’s try to figure out when using our hosted onDemand PointLoaylty Manager system is not suitable for a customer and when he might choose to install the system on his local servers:

1. Big amount of loyalty offers running at the same time (dozens and hundreds of offers), especially when offers employ historic rules and large tree-based custom categories.
To ensure system performance it is better to provide exclusive computing power for enterprises of such size. Contact our sales department sales@pointloyalty.com to buy a license for PointLoyalty Manager local installation.

2. Top secret transaction data. If passing the data through SSL channels with encrypted client identifiers is not secure enough for you – consider installing the system on your local secure network.

Every such case needs to be negotiated separately – please contact our sales department for more details.
